In a bold move to combat climate change, Oxford Innovation Space, which manages The EpiCentre, has announced its commitment to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. This announcement aligns with the Earth Day theme “Our Power, Our Planet,” which calls for global action to triple renewable energy generation by 2030.
As the UK’s largest network of innovation centres, Oxford Innovation Space is dedicated to driving sustainable change through a series of ambitious goals:
· Procuring 100% renewable electricity by 2027
· Halving Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030
· Promoting sustainable innovation through its ecosystem of entrepreneurs and researchers
Our Path to Net Zero
The newly published Net Zero Report outlines Oxford Innovation Space’s strategy to reduce emissions across its operations and value chain. The report details a combination of renewable energy adoption, operational efficiencies, and collaboration with clients and suppliers to achieve meaningful decarbonisation.
Key milestones include:
· 2025: Establish a comprehensive emissions baseline and launch initial reduction strategies
· 2030: Achieve a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by embedding sustainability across all centres
· 2040: Reduce Scope 3 emissions by 50%, working with partners to lower supply chain impacts
· 2050: Reach Net Zero emissions, neutralising any remaining impact with verified carbon offsets
Join Us in Driving Change
Earth Day serves as a reminder that real change happens when businesses, innovators, and communities work together. Oxford Innovation Space invites clients, partners, and stakeholders to join in championing sustainable solutions—from investing in green technologies to reducing carbon footprints across industries.
Helen Earl, Centre Manager said: “The EpiCentre is already well on the path to sustainability, with solar panels and EV chargers on site. Our Innovation Director, Gary Jennings, is part of the Green Team, working on sustainable change across the entire Oxford Innovation portfolio. We look forward to working on new initiatives and providing a sustainable and healthy workplace for SMEs in the Haverhill area.”
